microFIT (10kW and less):

  1. The applicant submits the Connection Review Application (Appendix 2) and Generator Connection Assessment Review (Appendix 3) forms and related information (equipment specifications and certifications, site plan drawing, and SLD).
  2. HHH and the applicant meet to discuss the project.
  3. HHH develops a Connection Cost Estimate.
  4. HHH provides the Connection Cost Agreement, Offer to Connect, and a Connection Agreement to the applicant.
  5. Applicant signs and returns Connection Cost Agreement.
  6. HHH performs work required on our part to accommodate the connection (where required). Applicant installs their generation and related equipment*.
  7. Applicant receives ESA Connection Authorization and forwards a copy of it along with their signed Connection Agreement to HHH.
  8. Once HHH is satisfied all requirements are met, HHH and applicant will set a date for connection.
  9. Connection is made. HHH updates internal files and notifies OPA of connection.
 

FIT (greater than 10kW but not greater than 10MW):

  1. The applicant submits the Connection Review Application form (Appendix 2).
  2. HHH completes the “Generator Pre-FIT Request for Information” form and returns to applicant for their OPA application.
  3. Applicant applies to OPA. OPA issues contract to applicant once TAT and DAT have been passed.
  4. The applicant contacts HHH.
  5. HHH requests Generator Connection Assessment Review (Appendix 4) forms and related information (equipment specifications and certifications, site plan drawing, and SLD). Submitted information must be signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer.
  6. HHH and the applicant meet to discuss the project.
  7. HHH/ applicant enter into a study agreement.
  8. HHH performs a Connection Impact Assessment (CIA) and if required involves any upstream LDC’s who may need to do a CIA.
  9. HHH develops a Connection Cost Estimate.
  10. HHH provides CIA along with Connection Cost Agreement, Offer to Connect, and a Connection Agreement to the applicant.
  11. Applicant signs and returns Connection Cost Agreement
  12. HHH performs work required on our part to accommodate the connection. Applicant installs their generation and related equipment*.
  13. Applicant performs commissioning tests per CSA C22.3 No. 9-08, IEEE 1547, and completes HHH’s “Commissioning and Equipment Verification Report” and provides the report along with any of their own commissioning tests to HHH.
  14. Applicant receives ESA Connection Authorization and forwards a copy of it along with their signed Connection Agreement to HHH.
  15. Once HHH is satisfied all requirements are met, HHH and applicant will set a date for connection.
  16. Connection is made. HHH updates internal files and notifies OPA of connection.

* Applicant may choose to install their equipment at any point during the process and takes full responsibility for the installation including any
changes that need to be made in the event equipment is installed ahead of a connection impact assessment or other reasons.
